What We Trim
- Foundation shrubs — boxwood, holly, azalea, juniper, gardenia, hydrangea, abelia
- Hedges — privacy hedges of any length, formal or natural shape
- Ornamental grasses — annual cutback in early spring
- Small ornamental trees — crepe myrtle, dogwood, redbud, Japanese maple
- Roses — seasonal pruning
- Espalier and topiary — for properties that have them
What We Don't Do
We don't take down large trees. If you have a mature oak, hickory, or pine that needs work, you need a licensed arborist with a bucket truck and proper insurance — we're happy to refer you to one we trust. We do handle small-tree pruning (under about 25 feet), deadwood removal from accessible branches, and storm damage cleanup on what we can safely reach from the ground or a small ladder.
When to Trim
- Boxwood, holly, juniper: late spring after new growth has hardened, with light shaping touch-ups through summer
- Azaleas: right after they finish blooming in spring — never in fall (you'll cut off next year's flower buds)
- Crepe myrtles: late winter, light shaping only (don't "crepe murder")
- Hydrangeas: depends on the type — we know which is which
- Ornamental grasses: late February before new growth emerges
Schedule a Trim
Trim work is priced by the job, not by the hour. The price depends on how many shrubs, how big they are, and how much material we have to haul away. We give an exact written quote after looking at what needs work — see how our pricing works.
